Kathy King is a certified women's entrepreneurship coach, professional dance educator, and mentor based in Metro-Detroit, MI. She launched her company, Kathy King Strategies, LLC, in the summer of 2020 as a way to support dance industry professionals through the chaos of the pandemic, which eventually evolved into business coaching for women across all types of industries. In 2006, she founded the Michigan Dance Project, a professional nonprofit touring dance company. Soon after, she founded the Brighton Dance Festival, which grew into a premier international summer dance event. In recent years, Kathy closed the doors to both organizations to dedicate her time fully to business coaching and teaching dance. Kathy holds a certificate in women's entrepreneurship from Cornell University, a "Special Tribute" from the State of Michigan for her contributions to the community through her work with Brighton Dance Festival, and was a 2013 Crain's Detroit Business "20 in their 20s" awardee. Kathy has been a featured speaker at the Hartland Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business event, the SESI Midwestern Entrepreneur Conference, the DanceLife Teacher Conference, and the International Dance Entrepreneurs Association. Locally, she facilitates the Holistic Networking Group at Brighton Light House, where she also runs her signature Empowered Entrepreneurs Coaching Program.
